Back A warden is a person who is responsible for a particular place or thing, and for making sure that the laws or regulations that relate to it are obeyed (game wardens ...hunting). A warden is someone who works in a prison supervising the prisoners. (mainly BrE). In AmE, the warden of a prison is the person in charge of it (BrE governor). A guardian is someone who has been legally appointed to look after the affairs of another person, for example a child or someone who is mentally ill. (Also "...a guardian of traditional values").
