| Text | Three patterns of the nouns of insrument are the following:
|
|---|---|
| Back Extra | * مِنْشارٌ (a saw), مِحراثٌ (a plough) - - - ** مِصْعَدٌ (a lift), مِثْقَبٌ (a drill) - - - *** مِكْنَسَةٌ (a broom) |
| Book Extra Notes | It should be noted that words like مِقْلاةٌ (originally مِقْلَيَةٌ) and مِكْوَاةٌ (originally مِكْوَيَةٌ) are on the pattern of مِفْعَلَةٌ and NOT مِفْعَالٌ. According to the Arabic phonetic system the combinations of ـَيَ (aya) or ـَوَ (awa) are changed to ـَا, so مِقْلَيَةٌ becomes مِقْلاةٌ, and so forth. |
