Disinfectant Soaked Antibiotics Agar Inhibition Zone Describe Test

To test antibiotics, place antibiotic-soaked discs on bacterial agar, observe inhibition zones after incubation, use a control, and compare zone sizes to assess effectiveness.

To test antibiotics, place discs soaked in different antibiotics onto an agar plate with bacteria, observe diffusion and inhibition zones where bacteria have died, use sterile water as a control, incubate for 48 hours at 25°C, and compare inhibition zone sizes to determine effectiveness.

Front Describe how to test the effect of antibiotics/ disinfectant on bacterial growth
Back 1. Place paper discs soaked in different antibiotics on an agar plate that has an even covering of bacteria, leaving spce between them.
2. Antibiotics should diffuse into agar jelly
3. A clear area will be left where bacteria have died - the inhibition zone
4. Use a control - a dish soaked in sterile water
5. Leave for 48 hours at 25°C
6. The more effective the antibiotic/ disinfectant is, the larger the inhibition zone will be
