What is the structure of a mitochondrion?

The 1 micrometer in diameter 

Surrounded by two membranes:

The inner membrane is folded into cristae which projects into the matrix 

The outer memberane contains a transport protein (porin) which allows wwater soluble molecules from cytoplasm into the {{c5:intermemberane space}}. 

The inner membrane is more selective
