Microtubules Found Centriole Hollow Cylinder  Formed Ring Short

Text What is a centriole?

A hollow cylinder

Formed from a ring of short microtubules

2 found outside the nucleus of an animal cell

They lie close together at right angles forming a centrosome

Also found at the base of cilia and flagellum act as MTOCs (microtubule organizing-centers where microtubules are made)

**Essential for the beating movement of these organelles
