Segment Transmitted Confirmed Rdt Principles Stop And Wait Individually Current

Front Rdt: Different principles (2)
Back Stop-and-wait:
Each segment is transmitted individually. The next segment is not transmitted until the current segment has been confirmed.
Problem: RTT limits the utilization of the connection (see slide / book)

Pipelining:
There are always several segments "on the line" ("in-flight"), which still have to be confirmed. As further segments are sent before the corresponding ACKs arrive, the line can be better utilized.
