Back | Stop-and-wait: Each segment is transmitted individually. The next segment is not transmitted until the current segment has been confirmed. Problem: RTT limits the utilization of the connection (see slide / book) Pipelining: There are always several segments "on the line" ("in-flight"), which still have to be confirmed. As further segments are sent before the corresponding ACKs arrive, the line can be better utilized. |
