Prison Growth Systems  19th Century Alternative Transportation Crime

Back It the 19th century prison was seen as an alternative to transportation. Between the 1800 and 1840, crime had risen from 5000 to 20000. This was because of the decline of the bloody code and discovery of gold in Austrslia meant that transportation was not a deterrent.
