Front | Second position - units of meaning There are also certain pronouns that have to be placed in second position. But if they appear in a sentence with se/si, the pronoun will be the third unit of meaning instead. Here are some examples with analysis, using the word se throughout: Each unit of meaning is marked by square brackets. Irrelevant units of meaning are italicised. [Ona] [se] [dívá] [na Matěje.] (She is looking at Matěj.) [Ta nová holka] [se] [dívá] [na Matěje]. (The new girl is looking at Matěj.) [Kdo] [se] [dívá] [na Matěje?] (Who is looking at Matěj?) [Na Matěje] [se] [díváme] [my]. (We are looking at Matěj.) [Proč] [se] [nedíváte] [na Františka?] [Ale] [on] [se] [dívá] [na Žofii]. (But he is looking at Žofie.)
