Front | Comfortable, comfy, cozy e.g: - Apart from comfortable rooms, the hotel offers two restaurants and a pool area. - I made myself comfy on the sofa. |
---|---|
Back | Gemütlich /ɡəˈmyːtlɪç/ e.g: - Neben gemütlichen Zimmern bietet das Hotel zwei Restaurants und einen Badebereich. - Ich machte es mir auf dem Sofa gemütlich. Observation: what is the difference between "gemütlich" and "bequem"? Gemütlich: immaterial state; giving a good and calming atmosphere (like a comforatable-looking appartment) Bequem: for physical things like a pair of trousers, a couch or things like that. You feel comfortable when you use them. So, if you look at a pair of jogging pants and start to feel comfortable, it looks "gemütlich". If you put it on, and you really feel comfortable, then it's "bequem". Keep in mind that most Germans use those words interchangeably. |
