Front | Comfortable; convenient e.g: - My new sofa is very comfortable. - Social media provide a convenient way to stay in touch. |
---|---|
Back | Bequem /bəˈkveːm/ e.g: - Mein neues Sofa ist sehr bequem. - Soziale Medien bieten eine bequeme Möglichkeit, in Kontakt zu bleiben. Observation: what is the difference between "bequem" and "gemütlich"? Gemütlich: immaterial state; giving a good and calming atmosphere (like a comforatable-looking appartment) Bequem: for physical things like a pair of trousers, a couch or things like that. You feel comfortable when you use them. So, if you look at a pair of jogging pants and start to feel comfortable, it looks "gemütlich". If you put it on, and you really feel comfortable, then it's "bequem". Keep in mind that most Germans use those words interchangeably. |
