When we repeat another person's words, we can use reported speech. When we report another person's words some time after they said them, we usually use a past tense verb to introduce them, and we also change the tense of the verbs. We usually change pronouns and time and place words in reported speech: e.g., 'me' changes to 'him' or 'her'. We can report positive or negative advice, requests, orders, and instructions. In the test sentence, we see a negative request. We usually report requests with 'ask' or strong requests with 'beg'. We report negative instructions, requests, advice, or orders with verb + not + infinitive with 'to'. So, we put 'not' BEFORE the infinitive with 'to'. Therefore, in the test, we need to choose answer 3.
Quan repetim les paraules d'una altra persona, podem utilitzar l'estil indirecte. Quan narrem paraules d'una altra persona un temps després que les hagi dit, normalment utilitzem un verb en temps passat per introduir-les, i també canviem el temps dels verbs. Normalment canviem pronoms i paraules de temps i lloc en l'estil indirecte: p. ex., 'me' canvia a 'him' o 'her'. Podem narrar consells, peticions, ordres i instruccions positives o negatives. En la frase de la prova, veiem una petició negativa. Normalment narrem peticions amb 'ask' o peticions fortes amb 'beg'. Narrem instruccions, peticions, consells o ordres negatives amb verb + not + infinitiu amb 'to'. Així, posem 'not' ABANS de l'infinitiu amb 'to'. Per tant, en la prova necessitem escollir la resposta 3.
