fiilinin ise to ile kullanıldığına dikkat ediniz. Respond ise
yine aynı anlamda kullanılan ancak resmiyet ifade eden bir fiildir:

Daha ziyade ‘istenilen tepkiyi vermek’
anlamında kullanılır:
Despite all the doctor's efforts the
patient did not respond to treatment.
