CHILDREN
An only child is a child who has no brothers or sisters. A child whose parents have died is an orphan. A person may adopt a child who is not his/her own son or daughter. A foster child is looked after for a certain period of time by a family that is not his/her own. If your husband or wife has children from a previous marriage, they are your stepchildren. Parents are responsible for bringing up their children.
