COURT
The accused has the right to a trial which is held in a court. All trials have a judge, and some have a jury, who try the case. One group of lawyers (the prosecution) tries to prove his guilt, while another group (the defence) tries to defend him. They examine the evidence to see if there is proof that he committed the crime. They may hear evidence from witnesses. At the end of the trial the judge or the jury will reach a verdict and decide if he is guilty or not guilty. If the accused is found guilty, he will receive a sentence. He may be fined, or sent to jail/prison.
