GOING TO THE DOCTOR
In Britain a doctor who looks after
general health problems is called a GP (ˌdʒiː ˈpiː ). He/she works in a surgery. When you go to the doctor's, you describe your symptoms:
My head hurts
I've got a stomach ache.
The doctor may prescribe a particular medicine. This is written on a prescription, which you take to a chemist's and show when you buy
the medicine. If you are feeling very ill (US sick) or if you are in a lot of pain, the doctor may send
you to hospital for more treatment.
