A
tall building that contains many flats (US apartments) is
called a block of flats (US an apartment block). Blocks
of flats are divided into floors:
I live in a second-floor flat.
If you rent a flat, you are the tenant and you pay money to the landlord/landlady.
The money that you pay every month is the rent. A deposit is money that you pay before you move in but get back when
you move out. Your flat may be furnished or unfurnished. People who share a flat with you but are not your family
are called your flatmates.
