If you want to move house, you go to an estate agent (US real estate agent), who is a person whose job is to sell property. The money that you borrow in order to buy a house is called a mortgage. A party given by sb who has just moved into a house is called a house-warming.
You can extend your house to make it bigger. You do up/renovate your house, by repairing and decorating it. If you do the work yourself, it is called DIY:
 They're spending the weekend doing DIY.
 Otherwise you may need a plumber (to fit or repair water pipes, bathrooms, etc.), an electrician (to connect or repair the electrical system) or a carpenter (to make or repair wooden structures).
