PAY
Pay is the general word
for money that you earn. Wages are paid weekly or
daily in cash. A salary is paid
monthly, directly into a bank account. When your wages or salary are increased,
you get a pay rise.
Your income is all
the money you get regularly, both for work you have done, and as interest on
money you have saved. Payment is
money for work that you do once or not regularly. You pay a fee for professional
services, for example to a doctor, lawyer, etc. The money that you have to pay
to the government is called tax.
