PAY
Pay is the general word for money that you earn. Wages are paid weekly or daily in cash. A salary is paid monthly, directly into a bank account. When your wages or salary are increased, you get a pay rise. Your income is all the money you get regularly, both for work you have done, and as interest on money you have saved. Payment is money for work that you do once or not regularly. You pay a fee for professional services, for example to a doctor, lawyer, etc. The money that you have to pay to the government is called tax.
