POLITICS
In democratic
countries, the government is chosen in elections. People vote for a candidate. Most politicians belong to a political
party. Left-wing parties support social change and equality and believe
that the government should own the main industries. Right-wing parties
are against social change and support the system in which industries are owned
by individual people and not the state. In the United Kingdom the person who
leads the government is called the Prime
Minister and the people who make and change laws are
called Parliament.
In the United States these people are called Congress and the head of the government is the President.
