RESTAURANTS
A cafe, a sandwich bar, a takeaway or a fast-food restaurant is often a good place to have a snack or eat cheaply, but for a special occasion you can go to a restaurant. If it is popular, you should reserve/book a table in advance. You choose from the menu and a waiter or waitress takes your order. A set menu gives a limited choice of courses or dishes at a fixed price. An à la carte menu lists all the separate dishes available. You can order a starter, a main course and a pudding/dessert. If you want alcoholic drinks, you can ask to see the wine list. At the end of the meal you must pay the bill. Friends often split the bill. If service is not included in the bill, people usually leave a tip.
