UNIVERSITY
People
who want to go to university in Britain have to apply, and they may have to take an entrance exam. Some
also apply for a scholarship in
order to pay their tuition fees. University students attend classes such as lectures, seminars
and tutorials.
They are taught by professors, lecturers and tutors. They may have to do research and write a thesis. People
studying for their first degree are called undergraduates and those doing further studies after their first degree
are called postgraduates. If undergraduates pass their finals, they will graduate (/ˈɡrædʒueɪt /) with a degree. A person who has graduated is called a graduate (/ˈɡrædʒuət
/).
