In the United States, there are many ways to get travel "discounts" or prices that are less than they normally cost. Students can often use their "student ID cards," identification cards from their school or university, to get travel discounts. Many bus and train companies give students a 10% or 15% discount, trying to "encourage" (motivate) students to travel more often using their companies' services.
