Text The word "attention," in this podcast, is a word shouted to get someone to look at or listen to oneself, especially in the military: "The students were talking too much, so the teacher shouted, 'Attention, please!'" The phrase "to pay attention to (something or someone) means to look at and/or listen to something or someone: "You need to pay more attention in class, Samantha."
