Episode Title Showing Respect and Disrespect
Phrase dedication
Text The word "dedication," in this podcast, means commitment or the effort that one makes to do something, especially if it is difficult: "The company appreciates your dedication to the project, and we're going to raise your salary because of it." As a verb, "to dedicate (something) to (someone)" means to show that one has built, made, or written something to show respect to another person, or in another person's honor: "This song is dedicated to my mother." Or, "Have you decided who you're going to dedicate your book to?" A "dedication ceremony" is a special celebration when a new building is finished and it is named after someone: "The university is planning a dedication ceremony to name its library after the state's governor."
