Episode Title | Describing a Musical Performance |
Phrase | to fault (someone) |
Text | In this podcast, the phrase "to fault (someone)" means to say that someone did something wrong or to say that someone is not very good at something: "They faulted Gregorio for the company's slow sales, saying that he wasn't doing his job well." If something is "someone's fault," it is a bad thing that happened because of something that person did or didn't do: "Do you think it's the parents' fault if their children are overweight?" Or, "She is mad at me, but it isn't my fault!" Finally, a "fault" can be something that doesn't work correctly in a machine: "If there is a fault in your computer, you can take it back to the store where you bought it and ask for a different one." |
