The phrase "all at once" describes something that happens very quickly and unexpectedly: "I was walking down the street when all at once a kangaroo hopped across the sidewalk." The phrase "once or twice" means rarely or only a few times: "Edgar may have eaten there once or twice, but it definitely isn't his favorite restaurant." Finally, the phrase "once upon a time" is used to begin fairy tales: "Once upon a time, there was a beautiful princess who dreamed of meeting a handsome prince." |
