The phrase "on the margins" describes someone who has little importance, power, influence, or respect: "The newest member of Congress is on the margins in most of his opinions." Finally, in business, the phrase "profit margin" refers to the difference between the cost of producing something and its sales price: "We have a small profit margin, but we can stay in business because we sell thousands of units each week." |
