Text In this podcast, the phrase "to put (someone) down" means to schedule someone for something by writing his or her name on a calendar or in an appointment book, or to sign someone up for something: "I'll put you down for an appointment on Tuesday at 3:00." Or, "Someone put me down as a volunteer for the event, but I'm not available that day."
