If something is "a screen for (something)," it is hiding something: "They use their dry-cleaning business as a screen for illegal activities." Finally, the phrase "to screen (someone) for (something)" means to do a test to see if someone has a disease or another medical problem: "Have you ever been screened for tuberculosis?" |
