The word "tablet" also refers to a pad of paper, or a stack of paper where all the pages are glued together or held together at the top: "Please pass me that tablet so I can write down the phone number before I forget it." When talking about medicine, a "tablet" is a small, round, hard pill that one swallows, usually without chewing: "Take two of these tablets with food every four to six hours."
