Phrase to treat
Text In this podcast, the verb "to treat" means to pay for someone else, usually when you are doing something together with them: "If you let me treat you to dinner, you can treat me to a movie." A very common phrase you'll hear is, "it's my treat," meaning I will pay for you. It can also be used to mean how you behave toward someone else: "Why do you treat me like a child when I'm already 25 years old?" Or, "When we stayed with friends after the fire, they treated us with kindness and patience." This verb can also be used to mean to give medical care: "There was a nurse at the scene of the big accident and she treated some people who were badly hurt before the ambulance arrived."
