Noch weiß ich kaum, woher ich den Mut nahm, in dieser Weise eine Konversation mit einer gänzlich Unbekannten anzufangen, – es war so gänzlich meiner sonstigen Gewohnheit und meiner Natur entgegen, aber ich glaube, daß ihre Beschäftigung irgend eine sympathische Seite in mir berührt hatte, denn auch ich liebte die Lektüre, obgleich die meine stets kindisch und nichtssagend gewesen war; die schwere und ernste konnte ich weder verstehen noch verdauen.
