The 4 principles of Gestalt Psychology

1. Holistic thinking – the whole is always more than the sum of its parts, called supersummativity.
2. Phenomenological basis – analyzing the essence of phenomena is the subject matter of psychology.  Analysis must proceed from phenomena to their essence.
3. Methodology – lifelike experiments using small numbers of subjects. “Reality” Experiments
4. Isomorphism – psychological processes are directly related to biological (brain) processes.
