Answer | Priestley became a co-founder of the Common Wealth Party, a Socialist political party. Priestley was, at this point, an influential figure in British politics. His opinions and broadcasts shaped a lot of the political debate of the period. He helped Labour win the election in 1945 and contributed to the formation of the Welfare State. |
