Notes Similar to [ɔ], but without the lips being rounded. It is also similar to schwa, but it is always stressed and non-reduced. English spellings: cup, but, sun, under, love, son, glove, young, rough, cousin, couple, double, flood, was. (Some dialects of English actually use the similar sounds [ɐ] or [ɜ] for this vowel instead of [ʌ].)
