Linked Genes Eye X Colour Red White Sex

Front what are sex linked genes and what do we often use as a model organism to study genetics and draw out the phenotype ratio when a heterozygous female mated with a heterozygous dominant male for the X linked gene for eye colour determined by the cone protein which is the receptor at the back of the eye (W for red eyes, w for white eyes)
Back any genes passed along with sex linked chromosomes (X linked genes are on X chromosomes, y linked genes in y chromosomes)

drosophila melanogaster (fruit fly): their genes for eye colour body colour and wing number are all X linked

draw out Punnett square: 50% red eyes, 25% red eyes but carrier of white eye gene, 25% white eyes (the protein that acts as a pigment receptor in the eye is called the cone)
