Farmer Equivocator Tailor Macbeth's Hell Shakespeare Key Points

Text
Key points to consider
The farmer, the equivocator and the tailor all represent some element of Macbeth's character. The fact they all end up knocking on the gates of hell suggest Macbeth cannot redeem himself.
Shakespeare wants us to compare Macbeth's crime to others. Hell is not reserved for spectacular crimes like regicide. The path towards it is well trodden because human criminality is common.
References to the farmer, the equivocator and the tailor also allude to Father Garnett's trial after he was arrested for complicity in the Gunpowder plot
Alcohol can be linked to characters' failures and subsequent shame. Shakespeare explores its dark side effects and the adverse influence it can hold.
