Back 得 preceedes the complement of degree, translated as 'so + adjective + that + complement,' complement is usually a complete sentence or verbal phrase, there are also fixed expressions with or without 得, and when the subject of the entire sentence and the subject of the complement are the same, do not repeat the subject in the complement:
网中看到一个老朋友,高兴得跳起来。 (跳起来 is a verbal phrase)
这里的风景美得像一幅画。
公共汽车挤得我简直没办法呼吸。
