Chlamydia trachomatis serotypes L1, L2, and L3 cause lymphogranuloma venereum (LGV), which presents as a primary ulcer (painless or painful) at the site of infection, followed by a bubo in the lymph nodes that can suppurate (anal discharge), and is treated with a single antibiotic.
