Plasmodium is transmitted by infected Anopheles mosquito bites. Diagnosis is via blood smears showing parasites in red blood cells; P. vivax/ovale is notable for large ring forms and schizonts.
La transmisión de Plasmodium ocurre a través de la picadura de mosquitos Anopheles infectados. El diagnóstico se realiza mediante frotis de sangre que muestran parásitos en los glóbulos rojos; P. vivax/ovale se distingue por la presencia de formas en anillo y esquizontes grandes.
