HCV (Hepatitis C virus) is a Flavivirus that causes chronic hepatitis, cirrhosis, and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), with increased risk of HCC exacerbated by hepatic regenerative processes.

Front | What type of a virus is HCV? → manifestations → disease course |
---|---|
Back | Flavivirus → stable chronic hepatitis (carrier state) → chronic hepatitis → cirrhosis → HCC HCV → ↑risk of HCC → oncogenic mutation increase if the hepatic regenerative process is stressed (cirrhosis) |
