Mycoplasma pneumoniae → presence of cold agglutinins in serum → most common cause of atypical pneumonia (atypical or "walking" pneumonia has an insidious onset and manifest in younger adults) → X-ray reveals patchy infiltrates rather than lobar consolidation → extrapulmonary manifestations include neurologic symptoms (aseptic meningitis, peripheral neuropathy, ataxia)
