Elisa Detect Ag Ab Bound Color Changing Enzyme Test

The ELISA test is used to detect the presence of antigens or antibodies, either directly or indirectly, and is used in HIV testing before Western blot confirmation.

La prueba ELISA se utiliza para detectar la presencia de antígenos o anticuerpos, ya sea directamente (detectando antígenos) o indirectamente (detectando complejos antígeno-anticuerpo).

Front What is ELISA test used for?
Back To detect presence of Ag or Ab

Direct ELISA →  Detect Ag using Ab bound to color-changing enzyme

Indirect ELISA  → detect Ag-Ab complex using antibody bound to color-changing enzyme

Suspected HIV → ELISA → ELISA (+) → western blot (confirmatory test)
