Genes F Transfer Hfr Cell Bacterial Linear Order

Hfr cells transfer genes in linear order from their chromosome, while F+ cells transfer only plasmid genes.

Bacterial cells that can transfer genes in linear order are Hfr cells, which donate chromosomal DNA from near the origin of transfer (oriT). F+ cells only transfer plasmid genes.

Front What bacterial cells can transfer genes in linear order?
Back
Only F+ and Hfr can donate genes to a recipient or F- cell → F+ cell transfers only plasmid genes → Hfr would be the only one likely to transfer chromosomal genes
