JC virus (Polyoma virus) in HIV patients with CD counts below 200 cells/mm³ can cause Progressive Multifocal Leukoencephalopathy (PML), which destroys oligodendrocytes through demyelination.

CD sayısının 200 hücre/mm³ altında olduğu HIV hastalarında JC virüsü (Polyoma virüsü) edinilmiş progresif multifokal lökoensefalopatiye (PML) neden olabilir, bu durum oligodendrositleri demiyelinizan hasarla yok eder.
