Origin | Many young children cling to something (a blanket or favorite stuffed toy, for instance) because it makes them feel safe and gives them confidence. Charles M. Schulz, the American cartoonist who draws the popular comic strip "Peanuts," created a character named Linus who always drags around his "security blanket," a term that Schulz coined. |
