Idiom | Green Thumb |
---|---|
Example | My uncle has a green thumb. You should see his roses. |
Meaning | having a special talent for making flowers and green plants grow well |
Origin | If you rubbed green plant leaves or parts between your fingers, you'd probably get chlorophyll, the green pigment of plants, on them. If a person loves gardening and has great ability to make plants grow, it's easy to see why people would say that he or she has a "green thumb." |
