| Notes | -(으)ㄹ게(요) is a verb ending generally used to express spontaneously formed intentions, particularly, when the speaker is promising or volunteering to perform an action for the benefit of the hearer. Phrases with -(으)ㄹ게(요) convey the sense of gentle checking with the listener if that's okay for the action to be performed. The following rules apply: -(으)ㄹ게(요) attaches to verbs only. The principle can be used only in first-person sentences. The marked action will take place in the immediate future. -(으)ㄹ게(요) cannot be used to express intentions or plans formed long before the time of speaking. |
