Notes | If the second object noun C is something such as a body part or a piece of clothing that belongs to the first noun B, the usage of -을/를 in place of the possessive particle -의 brings changes in meaning. In the resulting sentence 'A가 B를 C를 VERB' the subject A's action directly affects the finger owner B (the finger bitten vs the person bitten). In casual speech, -를 following a vowel often shortens to -ㄹ. Typical examples of such abbreviations include 날 (나를), 이걸 (이거를), 뭘 (뭐를). Two-word 하다-verbs with nouns marked by -을/를 like 수영을 하다 and 인사를 하다 can be abbreviated to their single word forms 수영하다 and 인사하다. |
