| Notes | Direct statements, especially those conveying potentially negative, upsetting, or sensitive information, are considered somewhat rude in Korean. In the polite or friendly conversation, direct statements tend to be replaced with assumptions regarding the given state of affairs. Phrases with -[modifier] 것 같- sound less direct and non-assertive in the way similar to English expressions with 'I think'. |
